EN 317 is one of a
series of European standards. It relates to the swelling in the
thickness of chip-board and fibre-board panels after they have been left
submerged in water. In order to comply with the requirements of this
standard, the panels must satisfy the following test conditions: the
test panels are left immersed vertically in clean, standing water at a
temperature of 20 +/-1 degrees Celsius for a specified period of 24
hours. At the end of this period, the test panels are removed, wiped dry
of surplus water, and measured to determine any change in the panel
thickness. The above values were obtained under such test conditions.
